Dungarvin is hosting a Virtual Hiring Event for experienced Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) interested in joining our Santa Rosa Day Program.

If you have experience supporting adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities and are looking for a consistent weekday schedule where you can make a real impact, we want to talk to you.  

PHONE INTERVIEWS:  Thursday, October 8th and Thursday, October 15th, 15-20 minute phone conversation POSITION: Direct Support Professional - Santa Rosa Day Program SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. | 32.5 hours per week | benefits eligible  PAY: $23.50/hour

PROCESS:  Apply for the position and complete the short online assessment that is emailed to you. Once your application and assessment is complete, our Talent Acquisition team will review your information.  

Qualified candidates will receive a scheduling link to select a 15-20 minute phone interview on October 8 or October 15.  We will talk about your experience, tell you more about our Santa Rosa Day Program, answer questions, and discuss next steps in the hiring process.

Experienced DSPs who apply and complete the assessment early may be able to interview before the event dates, so don't wait to get started!

Job Description

This Is Not Your Typical DSP Position

Our Santa Rosa Day Program is an active group environment where DSPs spend their day teaching, mentoring, engaging, and supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in small groups that are part of a larger group. 

What You'll Actually Do: 

• Lead cooking, art, music, recreation, and life-skills activities
• Teach and reinforce skills that promote independence
• Support community outings and volunteer activities
• Provide personal care, including restroom, hygiene, eating, and mobility support
• Provide behavioral support and use trained de-escalation techniques
• Support individuals with verbal and nonverbal communication needs
• Follow individualized support and behavior plans
• Drive company vehicles for outings and community activities
• Complete accurate electronic documentation
• Prepare, clean, and reset program areas
• Work with your team to maintain a safe, positive, and consistent environment

Qualifications

Your Experience Matters.  We're looking for candidates with hands-on experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, personal care needs, or similar support needs.  

Relevant backgrounds may include Direct Support Professional (DSP), Caregiver, Behavior Technician, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Paraprofessional, Teacher's Aide, Respite Provider, Residential Counselor, Community Support Worker, Job Coach, Employment Specialist, or similar human services experience.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ months experience supporting adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, highly preferred
• Must be 21 years or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive a company van
• Comfortable providing personal care and behavioral support
• Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds
• Strong communication and basic computer skills
• Dependable, adaptable, engaged, and comfortable taking initiative
• Teamwork and ability to receive feedback 
• Coaching, mentoring, and teaching experience is a huge plus.
