    Job Description

The Director of Nursing provides clinical leadership and oversight for Cambrian Homecare's skilled nursing respite program, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities who receive nursing services in their homes. Working closely with operational leadership, this role helps ensure nursing services meet California regulatory requirements, clinical standards, and individual care needs.

This position focuses on supporting and overseeing field nurses, reviewing clinical documentation, monitoring care quality, and ensuring the program remains compliant and prepared for regulatory review. You'll partner with nursing staff and operational leadership to address clinical questions, strengthen documentation practices, resolve concerns, and promote consistent, high-quality care.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Partner with operational leadership to resolve clinical concerns and support appropriate care delivery.
    • Clinical Documentation & Quality Assurance: Review, develop, update, and maintain individualized plans of care, physician orders, medication profiles, nursing assessments, and other clinical records to ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness: Help maintain compliance with California Title 22 regulations, applicable state and federal requirements, and company policies. Monitor records and practices to support ongoing readiness for regulatory reviews.
    • Care Coordination & Clinical Oversight: Support appropriate admissions, transfers, discharges, assessments, and care planning. Coordinate with physicians, clients, families, payers, and other healthcare partners to support continuity of care.
    • Staff Development & Performance Management: Provide clinical guidance to field nurses, address performance concerns when necessary, and reinforce clinical standards and expectations. Build productive relationships with nursing staff while promoting accountability and quality care

      • At least four years of experience in home-based healthcare or a healthcare facility, including at least one year of supervisory experience.

    • Health & Safety Requirements: Current CPR certification, required TB clearance, and the ability to meet applicable health and physical requirements of the role, including lifting, bending, squatting, and transferring clients as required.
    • On-Call Availability: Ability to fulfill after-hours clinical on-call responsibilities and provide clinical guidance when needed.
    • Microsoft 365 & Data Skills: Advanced Microsoft 365 skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).

    NICE TO HAVE:

    • Developmental Disabilities Experience: Strongly preferred experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families in community-based or home-based service environments.

    • Communication, Emotional Intelligence & Accountability: Build positive relationships with field-based nursing staff and healthcare partners, communicate expectations clearly, navigate team dynamics with professionalism and sound judgment, address performance concerns appropriately, and foster a collaborative work environment while maintaining accountability.

    WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS JOB:

As Director of Nursing, you'll play an important role in ensuring quality care for individuals with developmental disabilities while building meaningful, long-term relationships with clients, families, and nursing staff. You'll contribute to a stable, established program where consistency, collaboration, and continuity of care make a lasting difference.

Unlike traditional home health, Medicare-focused home health, or high-intensity acute care environments, this role offers a primarily office-based work environment focused on clinical oversight, nursing support, documentation, and regulatory compliance. Travel is limited, with client home visits typically occurring a few times per month. This allows you to maintain meaningful connections with clients and nursing staff without the constant field travel and pace often associated with other healthcare settings.

This opportunity may be especially appealing to an experienced RN ready to transition from a demanding nursing leadership position into a more structured role where you can apply your clinical judgment, strengthen care quality, support your team, and make a meaningful impact on individuals and their families.
