Dungarvin is seeking to fill a position of Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support the continuous enrichment of individuals with developmental disabilities in our ADULT RESIDENTIAL FACILITY FOR PERSONS WITH SPECIAL HEALTHCARE NEEDS in Los Angeles, CA.

We are a national provider of services to people with developmental disabilities.

The Adult Residential Facility is located in Los Angeles, CA. The people we serve are referred to us by the Westside Regional Center and Harbor Regional Center, nonprofit private corporations that contract with the State of California Department of Developmental Services to provide or coordinate services, supports and appropriate living arrangements for people with developmental disabilities. We develop opportunities for stimulating, productive, purposeful and meaningful experiences for the people we serve, as well as our dedicated team of employees. We provide activities at home, as well as outings and participation in local community events.

The LVN is responsible for ensuring that each individual we serve receives quality individualized healthcare management, resulting in their optimal health. The LVN serves as licensed staff and acts as a health/medical resource for non-licensed staff to ensure the company is in compliance with state requirements and organizational policies regarding medical care and records. The LVN may serves as a lead to other direct care staff, acting as a role model to others. The LVN supports the designated Lead Registered Nurse (Lead RN) and the Program Director (Administrator) with some administrative responsibilities and coordination.

Licensed Vocational Nurse Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Promote the concept of teamwork and facilitate appropriate involvement of team members by functioning as a member of Dungarvin team.
  • Maintain basic computer proficiency.
  • Properly and effectively use relevant computer software applications and other technologies to augment support services and complete administrative duties.
  • Represent the organization in a positive, professional and responsible manner to staff, guardians, other healthcare professionals, case managers and team members.
  • Communicate with and ensure ongoing positive relations with neighbors.
  • Respond to any complaints from outside contacts in an appropriate manner.
  • Provide nursing services for individual healthcare.
  • Provide guidance to other direct care staff as needed to support persons served.
  • Ensure home environment with each person having access to all areas and the opportunity to participate. Uphold a particular standard of quality and cleanliness of the environment and equipment, including outside areas.
  • Give input, obtain approvals and monitor household spending to ensure it is within budget guidelines and meets the needs of the home.
  • Ensure compliance of facility to all rules and regulations regarding physical plant.
  • Ensure maintenance needs of the home and equipment, including vehicles, are being met.

The Licensed Vocational Nurse should hold the minimum requirement to practice vocational nursing in the state of California. The individual must be skilled, flexible, self-motivated, dependable and able to work cooperatively with staff, interdisciplinary team members and outside agencies. At least one year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities is required. Experience working with persons with special health needs, such as suctioning, gastrostomy feeding, insulin dependent diabetes, pain management, oxygen support, treatment for wounds, etc.

The LVN must be able to pass a background check by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and follow policies and procedures of the company related to mandated reporting and confidentiality.
