The Early Childhood Developmental Specialist works directly with the child, family and other personnel to implement the IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan), focusing on early childhood milestones and developmental stages. The Services are rendered in the most appropriate natural settings for the child and family in the context of the family's  day to day life activities. The Early Childhood Developmental Specialist may also be responsible for providing family service coordination. The Early Childhood Developmental Specialist will work with families in both roles when the family elects to receive the services of the Early Childhood Developmental Specialist. 


  • Conduct site visits in the child's natural environments as scheduled and stated in the IFSP, determining eligibility for the program and services 
  • Conduct and participate in initial and ongoing assessments to determine child's developmental levels in all areas to include hearing and vision screenings
  • Work directly with the child and family in the development and implementation of the IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan)
  • Coach and support the parents/caregivers enabling them to enhance their own skills to further the development of the child
  • Maintain paperwork, proper documentation; organizing and filing information as assigned. 
  • Cooperatively work with the early childhood department and contractors. Participate in team consultation meetings with IFSP team members. 
  • Complete all Dungarvin Condition of Employment requirements and orientation/ongoing training and adhere to Dungarvin policies and procedures throughout the term of your employment to include HIPAA.



  • Bachelor's degree or above in early childhood education preferred or a related field as designated by the New Mexico Family Infant Toddler Program (Audiology, counseling, education of the deaf or hard of hearing, family studies, social work, family therapy and counseling, nursing [LPN, RN, Midwife], nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Special Education, SLP, Communication Language Disorders, Elementary Education, Vision Training, Orientation and Mobility Training, Pediatric specialty, Psychology) 
  • Must meet requirements established by the New Mexico Family Infant Toddler Program. 
  • 2 years of experience preferred
  • Knowledge of early childhood milestones preferred
  • Ability to pass a criminal back ground check. 
  • Must possess the ability to make sound judgments; ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality in services' ability to assist in maintaining efficient office operations. 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, as well as general office technologies. 
  • Personal qualities should include confidence, flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to maturely and effectively deal with unexpected demands and incidents.
