SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Area Director is responsible for the overall management and administration of programs/services and new development in assigned geographic area of state. This includes budget development and implementation, rate negotiation, licensing, strategic evaluation and planning, staff development, hiring and supervision of program directors and assigned support staff, policy development, marketing, and proposal development.

 

SKILLS CRUCIAL TO SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE:

  • Knowledge and experience with all service programs strongly preferred. This includes Home and Community based services.
  • Demonstrated experience with juggling multiple priorities while remaining focused on staff and service quality
  • Knowledge of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Neurocognitive disorders (Strongly prefer dual diagnosis or complex behavior support needs). 
  • Having strong decision-making and communication skills, be responsible, mature, and flexible.
  • A passion for excellence, able to set standards and hold people accountable.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Have knowledge of the State and federal laws

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services field (Psychology, Counseling, Allied Health, Educational Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, etc.) required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • A qualified intellectual disabilities professional, a licensed nursing home administrator, or education and experience comparable to one of the above as determined by the State Director.
  • Minimum of 3 years human services industry experience, with strong management experience, required.  
  • Budget experience of minimum 3 million dollars. 
  • Prior supervisory experience in residential programs for individuals with developmental disabilities is a must.

Additional Information

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver’s license and driving record, which allows candidate to be covered by agency insurance policy, required. This position is designated as an Unlimited Driving Position --defined as one that requires an employee to drive a motor vehicle as a part of his/her Dungarvin work, including vehicles owned or leased by Dungarvin, and/or to drive a vehicle in which a person served is transported

 

HOURS WORKED:

  • The Area Director’s schedule must be flexible to accommodate various programs, personnel and organizational needs, including evening and weekend hours, as indicated. Typical hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday- Friday.
