Dungarvin is hiring a PROGRAM COORDINATOR to support adults with developmental disabilities in our PARTIAL DAY PROGRAM in NORWALK, CALIFORNIA.

The Program Coordinator works closely with the Program Director to coach a team of skilled Direct Support Professionals (DSP) providing resource supports and community integration opportunities for the people we serve.

This Partial Day Program is located in Norwalk, California. The people we serve are referred to us by the Harbor Regional Center, a nonprofit private corporation that contracts with the State of California Department of Developmental Services to provide or coordinate services and supports for people with developmental disabilities. We develop opportunities for stimulating, productive, purposeful and meaningful experiences for the people we serve, as well as our dedicated team of employees. We offer a variety of activities on-site, as well as integrated outings and inclusion in local community events.

POSITIONS: A full-time Program Coordinator position is available. This position is a weekday shift.

Job duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating the variety of services including individual finances, recreation, program services, education programs, healthcare/nutrition and facility management. The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in maintaining consistency in programming, individual care and communication with staff and interdisciplinary team members at their primary site and all other Dungarvin locations as assigned. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the direct support professional during all direct care shifts when necessary.

Dungarvin offers starting wages of $15.98 per hour with incremental increases during the first year of employment, $16.42 per hour upon completion of the first year, and subsequent incremental increases thereafter. Employees are paid for time spent in training and professional development. Training includes, but is not limited to, CPR, First Aid, Lifting and Transferring, OSHA, HIPAA, Abuse/Neglect, Defensive Driving, Workplace Safety, and Individual Rights and Food Safety.

REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have a sincere desire to support individuals with developmental disabilities, such as intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, autism and epilepsy. We expect our employees to embrace and adhere to the mission of respecting and responding to the choices of people with developmental disabilities.

Experience in this or related field is preferred.

Employees must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have basic computer knowledge
  • Have the physical ability to lift over 50 lbs frequently and over 100 lbs occasionally
  • Have the ability to make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities
  • Have a strong understanding of integration and person-centered planning
  • Have the ability to receive instruction and implement policies and procedures as trained
  • With training, recognize physical changes of the individuals served, communicate with others, and respond accordingly

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving history (driver's license check is paid for by Dungarvin)
  • Fingerprint clearance by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) (paid for by Dungarvin)
  • Physician's clearance and a TB test clearance (paid for by Dungarvin)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three professional references (non-family)
