Dungarvin is now hiring Direct Support Professionals to support people with developmental disabilities in our Resource and Vocational Center in Fairfield, California.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work closely with the Program Director and Program Coordinator providing resource and vocational supports and community integration opportunities for the people we serve.

The people we serve will be transitioning into their local communities from other settings and will benefit from assistance finding gainful employment, volunteer opportunities, social adaptation, personal lifestyle development and the achievement of their long-term goals. We believe each person has his or her own set of aspirations, goals, strengths and dreams. We encourage self-determination and choice for each person we support, and tailor our services to meet their individual needs and preferences. In this program, we strive to provide each person with the education, assistance, role modeling, supervision and encouragement they need to develop interests, skills and abilities, and their independence.

POSITION: Direct Support Professionals
Available shifts: Monday through Friday; 8:30am to 3:00pm or 9am to 3:30pm.

Job duties include (but are not limited to) serving as a role model to all persons served and employed by the resource and vocational center, the identification and development of partnerships within the local community, transportation supports (including driving the company van for activities and vocational opportunities), utilization of equipment and supplies within the program’s resource and vocational center, community integration and training within the local community, following protocols and procedures to maintain a health and safe environment, and communication with all staff and interdisciplinary team members.

Dungarvin offers starting wages of $13.42 per hour with incremental increases thereafter. Employees are paid for time spent in training and professional development. Training includes (but is not limited to) CPR, First Aid, OSHA, HIPAA, Abuse/Neglect, Defensive Driving, Workplace Safety, Individual Rights and Mandt.

REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have a sincere desire to serve people in need of supports.

We expect our employees to embrace and adhere to the mission of respecting and responding to the choices of people with developmental disabilities. Experience in this (or related) field is preferred.

Employees must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have basic computer knowledge.
  • Have the physical ability to lift over 50 lbs frequently and over 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Have the ability to make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities.
  • Have a strong understanding of integration and person-centered planning.
  • Have the ability to work as a team member.
  • Have the ability to receive instruction and implement policies and procedures as trained.
  • With training, recognize physical changes of the individuals served, communicate with others, and respond accordingly.


PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving history (driver’s license check is paid for by Dungarvin) with the ability to get a California license within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Fingerprint clearance by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) (paid for by Dungarvin).
  • Physician’s clearance and a TB test clearance (paid for by Dungarvin).
  • Three professional references (non-family).
